DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Doctor: “Well, then, have you ever considered stomach reduction surgery?
”Patient: “Hmmm, no… I don’t want to keep vomiting everything I eat”.
It is hard to say what brought this film about: the cutting dialogues, the narrative’s confessional tone or the expressionist potential in both? All this is in Bernardo Scartezini’s chronicle, the origin of this ironic story. Based on these three ideas, the script took the story ahead showing the return of a young man, tormented by his excess weight, to the office of Dr. Sarcastic Smile – who is intent on testing his most radical slimming therapies on the patient:
Doctor: “Look, I’m not saying this is not Prozac”.
Patient: “What? A Prozac-type pill? Doesn’t this make one high?”
Doctor: “It stimulates a substance in the brain… se-ro-to-nin, which makes you happy when you eat”.
Patient: “I see… a bit like ecstasy, right?”
